Meet Miss Rebecca Schmitz, your student's Kindergarten teacher!
Where I'm from: Gloucester, Virginia (About 2 hours north of Hertford, on the York River)
Where I went to school: James Madison University - Harrisonburg, VA (Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2015 & Master of Arts in Teaching in 2016) Go Dukes! Teaching experience: This is my first full year of teaching, woo hoo! However, I did half of my student teaching with a Kindergarten class in Harrisonburg, VA and the other half with a 5th/6th grade mixed class in Melbourne, Australia! I also spent time volunteering and observing in PreK, 3rd grade, PE, and Special Education PE classrooms throughout my college career. Something I'm passionate about: Service! I spent last year as a full time volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte, NC. There I worked in construction, leading crews in the process of building homes for families in need. Throughout the year, I worked heavily in leadership, problem solving, and teamwork. Though I was not a "teacher," I know that I strengthened many of my skills that will help me be a great teacher for your students! I hope to spread my love of service to my class so that they can understand the joy and importance of helping others and being involved in the community! |
Here are a few of my favorite things...
Spongebob Squarepants, pigs, and the color yellow!
The beach, nature, traveling, and sunflowers!
Yoga, swimming, camping, riding my bike, and kayaking!
Reading and spending time with friends and family!
But most importantly...
